DMW, OWWA, GCash launch ‘Sama sa Roma’ Support Caravan for Filipinos attending the 2025 Jubilee

As thousands of Filipinos prepare to participate in the 2025 Jubilee in Rome, a major international gathering organized by the Vatican that attracts millions of visitors, GCash, the Philippines’ number one finance super app, has joined efforts with the Philippine government to ensure they are not only represented but also actively supported.

At the heart of this effort is ‘Sama sa Roma’, a multi-sectoral initiative that brings together public agencies and private partners to serve Filipinos on the ground during the Jubilee.

Central to Sama sa Roma is the Serbisyo Caravan—a government-organized “one-stop shop” that brings essential services directly to Filipinos abroad. Led by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), these mobile setups allow multiple agencies to operate side by side—offering welfare consultations, legal assistance, documentation support, and access to social benefit programs in one coordinated space.

At Sama sa Roma, the Caravan serves as the coordinated presence of the Philippine government on the ground. Through it, OWWA and DMW deliver real-time support to overseas workers, pilgrims, and long-term residents alike—those who often face fragmented access to government services while abroad. From passport concerns and contract verification to tourism materials, welfare consultations, and paying government contributions like SSS and Pag-IBIG, the caravan consolidates public service into one accessible, mobile platform.

GCash joined the effort as a sponsor, offering digital financial tools and on-ground support for cashless transactions. At its booth, attendees received hands-on assistance with the GCash app—from setting up accounts and verifying identity to navigating international remittance, QR payments, and currency conversion features.

The booth also served as a touchpoint for financial inclusion, especially for overseas workers and pilgrims who may be unfamiliar with mobile finance or lack access to traditional banking.

For pilgrims attending the Jubilee, GCash provided direct support for everyday transactions. The booth also offered assistance in navigating the app’s features for smoother on-site use.
